I am amazed that we have in Hertfordshire a wealth of talent

I am amazed that we have in Hertfordshire a wealth of talent that goes under the radar all around us and we don’t even know they are there, The problem being that these local entrepreneurs and specialist are very special people that have spent many years training in there field focusing on their end product or service and forget about how to put the products or services to market, they can express there passion or knowledge in there chosen field, but just get swamped by the same old same old high street retails. If you want to buy something, let’s say! a bed where do go? Maybe online or you head for the retail parks. If there was a local company that could offer you a choice of beds, or maybe even something bespoke, at the same price or even less than the big boys, wouldn’t you prefer that personal service? Knowing you was talking to someone that will solve your problems supply exactly what you want.

Of course we all would.

But where are these people how do we normally find them? Word of mouth and recommendations are the foundations on which most successful business are built on,

Potters Bar Life is on the hunt to search out these little nuggets on your door step and to include them in our golden nuggets feature on line whether they have shop front work from home or have a online business,

Please comment on these features your input is valuable to us. If you know about any hidden golden nuggets around our area please email us the details.

Potters Bar life new local information

Having lived and worked in and around Potters Bar for numerous years, too numerous to mention, we decided that though there were some fantastic local publications out there that we could really do with a magazine that focused on all aspects of local life, from eating out to schools through to local services and shops.

This is where Potters Bar Life was born. Whilst the name may not adequately reflect the areas we will cover which will be Brookmans Park, Cuffley, Northaw, Water End, South Mimms, Little Heath & Welham Green.

These areas are loaded with local histories all of their own and possess a wealth of clubs, business and organisations that can enrich many parts of our lives.

We will be focusing on real issues that make a difference, from which is the best, (voted by you of course), Indian Takeaway through to which hairdresser is best for straight or curly hair.

There are many services offered freely throughout our areas that we don’t know about and if we don’t know about them then how can we avail of them. All business offer something for free though they don’t consider it a free service just part of their normal routine, so don’t think to advertise it. For example most local hairdressers offer free consultations, many interiors business such as bathroom and kitchen installations offer free quotes and often free really good advice.

It is important that we all do our best to revitalise our local communities, keeping the business and services we value alive. We can only do this by using them.

If you offer a local service or business and would like your customers to know about you then please submit a short article telling us what you do and why customers or clients should use you.

We are planning to have our first printed publication ready for Christmas, but there is a blog site up and running where there are already some great local ideas.
